Launch of the Mona Lisa Africa program in Senegal
At last we could introduce the Mona Lisa Program in Senegal.
HRA is particularly working in close collaboration with two local partners: The "District Sanitaire de St-Louis" and the arm of the ASBEF (l'Association
pour le Bien Etre Familial de St Louis), which has as goal the most optimal conditions for families in general.
The district of St Louis involved in sanitary issues, assisted by Madame Seynabou N'Diaye, has expressed particular interest in this program. This corresponds very well with the objectives regarding health and family planning.
- Madame N'Diaye is actively promoting the use of the IUD as means of contraception in Senegal.
- I fact, so far the program has contributed to reach her objective of 12% as part of family planning program in the city of St Louis.
- The ASBEF present in St Louis, is taking care of an average of 1 000 women per month.
The introduction of the MonaLisa Africa program in Senegal actually took place as recently as September 2007, with a consignment of 2 000 copper IUD's.
And now we are awaiting news from Senegal with great expectations…
