Mona Lisa Africa

After successful common actions on Morning after Pill, HRA Pharma and Equilibres & Populations, a French NGO, have decided to associate again their respective expertise in order to set up "Mona Lisa Africa" Program.
This program carried out with the support of Health Authorities and local organisations includes : the free provision of IUDs, transport, training of health professionals (doctors, and midwives), the placement of IUD's under appropriate sanitary conditions and monitoring of the women. Our ambition is not limited to widening access to contraceptives by placing IUDs, we also aim to also contribute to contraceptive education, which is an essential stake in these countries.
The copper IUD has several advantages: the length of contraception, its invisible nature for the partner, and the possibility of using it as emergency contraception. The program has begun with 4,000 placements in Senegal and Niger before spreading in these countries followed by other African countries.
This program is financed by the commercialisation of the same IUDs in France.
